I have officially announced the big project!

For Yosh! Comics' 10th Year Anniversary I will be putting together a limited run Artbook!  The artbook will contain a lot of my favorite works that can be found on my DA gallery, my site, as well as some brand new artwork drawn for the book AND tribute artwork from other artists!  The book will be between 42 and 52 pages in full color!  I'll have a full list of the other artist participating at a later time.  

Being a limited run the number of comics printed will be based on the number of preorders.  The example I have been using is- If I have 50 pre orders I'll order 100 comics.  50 for the preorders and 50 for sale online and at the convention.  This should remain generally the case unless there are a ton of people that cannot or will not preorder but insist they want to order them online.  

Once the final numbers are in, that number of books will be it, no more will be printed and they will be numbered and signed.  Lowest numbers will be given to preorders and the rest will go to conventions and limited online orders!

What convention? Nekocon of course! Nekocon in Hampton, Virginia on November 1st-3rd!  The plan for Nekocon is to actually have a TON of the artists there from the Katbox and more.  Currently we are trying to secure a position for Ron (Nekonny, Caribbean Blue), MasterGodai (Rascals), Tony (Friend and Colorist for - a lot of us on projects and extras), and Tom from 2kinds.  Danny (Draconia Chronicles) will of course be there too, because he always is

The price of a book will be 20 dollars plus shipping and handling.  I'll add more to this journal as more things are completed and as questions and information comes in!  Please head over to the website to vote on the poll (please only vote once!) which I am using to get a rough estimate on how many preorders I should be expecting and how many people will want to purchase some online. Hello there peoples.  Remember me? I've been busy but have little to show for it, well, little I can show.  I've been planning in my not bat cave for a while.  But that's not why I am updating my journal! NOPE!

I am updating my journal because I am uploading my prints from this past year at nekocon!



Also, this year at Nekocon I will be celebrating my comic's 10th year Anniversary! So I'll have something special coming up later in the year! Probably a few special things!

I also apparently add uppercase on words randomly within a sentence.  So! Here's some news.  I am currently working on the last of the bonus comics from this set and another one is already paid for so I might go ahead and do that one next week.  Soon however I will be switching over to raise money for the convention this year.  I don't think I am going to do the raffle this year though.  Which sounds like a stupid idea because generally the raffles went so well.  I'm not sure yet though.  I'd like to hear what opinion's you all have on it.  The issue is, I have had a couple cases where I sent things and they were returned to me so I had to get a new address and re-ship it.  In one case that I reshipped something I never heard from the person again to even find out if they got it.  Things like that have bugged me but funny enough, usually it's never the out of country ones that are sent back.  I think every time I have an out of country shipment I have gotten confirmation of it being delivered by the receiver.  I think I'd prefer to not have to ship anything though.  

I was thinking for every hundred dollars I raise, I would do 2 new prints (standard size) and if it reached 500, I'd do a poster and another regular size print.  These images would be seen early by anyone who donated and I think I would still do a raffle where people would get a free commission of a character from my comic.  500 dollars would be the end goal.  I also need to come up with new buttons (1 inch button pins) which can be difficult. We'll see how those go this year.  I might also try to make some Paper Craft Templates with help from my friend Ron

I'll also have a big announcement about the people going to Nekocon this year, and trust me, it's big ^_^

I meant to re open commissions a few weeks ago, but I had promised a couple of slots to people that just barely missed the previous ones or who had really cool ideas.

Unfortunately I can't find them now and I really don't have time to go digging.  So much has been happening that I can't keep up with a lot of it much less who messaged me via IM, PM, or email.

So if you were waiting for me to contact you when I could do it, I'm sorry, but it was a bad idea for me to even do that in the first place.  If you were one of those people and were still interested I will try to honor my word on the matter.  Either pm/note/email me with the details and when I open commissions up this week I'll put those in immediately.

Also, the bonus comics are dead in the water.  No donations have been made so it will soon be cancelled. I'm currently looking into a replacement for donations because of this unfortunate news but I can't have a section devoted to something like bonus comics if I can't get enough money from it to continue.

In happier news I am an uncle now.  My sister gave birth to a boy, May 11th!

I am going to keep my old URL in addition to using the katbox url.  It will redirect to the Katbox and that will probably happen Friday if not sooner.

What does this change?  

Well the forum will be using the Katbox forum, a few extra ads will be in there to help pay for the server (I do not have full control over what they display like i did with the old site but they are pretty non-intrusive and they are responsible for paying for the site so if possible please dont use an ad blocker on the katbox, you may be surprised how much you can help us just by not blocking the ads and just ignore em ^_^  There are no flash ads so no popups or music playing or anything like that!

Other than that, nothing really changing as far as i know.  Comic will still update 3 days a week.  If ya have any questions ask away!

UPDATE!
The server is up (and has been for some time now).  If you cannot get to the server now then it's probably a DNS issue and it will just take time for your ISP to update their DNS so it can properly send you to the site.  Shouldnt take more than 48 hours max.  If it doesn't happen soon enough for you, changing how your DNS resolves is pretty easy. Do a search on google for "Google DNS" and you'll find a site that explains in detail how to change it.

IF you have any other problems with the site or such send me a message or comment it here on this journal and I'll try to help ya out.  Take care!

I have some probably really good news!

A new server is being set up today. Current best estimates are that it will be up and running again tonight (probably late and when I say tonight think USA night ^^).

I don't have a lot of details as of yet because basically they are just getting started in setting up and preparing but, with a little luck, the Katbox and all their comics and Yosh! Will all be back online tonight or early morning.

There may be some more down time on Monday if all doesn't work out just right but we won't know for sure till later!  I'll update this journal if I get any more news so wish us luck!

Here's a mostly cut and pasted message from the Yosh!Saga Facebook page about the current status of the site and server!

Just want to let everyone know Mihari is working hard to get the server working the best it can.  If you are interested in knowing what is taking so long let me explain a little bit.

The new server is much like the old but has a lot more bandwidth, otherwise nearly everything else is the same.

However the server is not set up the same way and some things are not working like they should.  For example, just the Yosh! site on the server was causing the CPU to MAX OUT. Making it run at 100% CONSTANTLY.   That's very bad considering there are a bunch of other comic sites that need to run with it, none of them as big but with lots more traffic between them.   So imagine if you will a computer that can barely run one program you are running... and you have 7 other similar programs you also want to run.  Yeah, that's very bad.

Last I heard Mihari was able to fix that at least on the Yosh! end but there are more problems and I don't know if all the sites are having that same issue.

It will take time and effort and Mihari does require sleep as well so please understand we need your patience.  The comic isn't stopping while the site is down either, I am working on the bonus comic and I will be doing updates as normal.  If the site isnt stable by Monday for the next comic I will post it to my deviant art page.

If you have any friends that read the comic and don't follow updates on facebook/DA and such please let them know as well.

The Katbox is also being fixed so if you are a reader of their's this information applies for them as well though I do not know what they will do so follow their artists blogs, facebook pages, and art accounts!

Alright! So the site was down for a long time today.  I was really worried that it was something really wrong because it's never taken this long to come back up and I couldn't get a hold of Kate (Yes! Kate (aka Mihari) runs the site >><< )

She was really busy dealing with it.  So - what exactly happened?  In a nutshell, the server was moved to a stronger, faster, more aerodynamic server (because even if its not moving- aerodynamics makes it faster, thats how science works ya know! )  Unfortunately the move took a little longer and a lot of DNS' didn't update soon after.  If you dont know what I'm talking about- neither do I!  Kinda.  Here's a way to think of it.

Lets say you mail an envelope to your friend -  but instead of writing out a big long string of numbers that identify their location or mailbox- you have a special string of easy to remember words! So you write that on their and their system says "This means send it to #######1" and it goes.  Well your friend is tired of his crummy house and wants to move to a new house!  Well thankfully he can just tell the post office his new number is #######2 so they change his shortcut to go to that number now.  Unfortunately all the other post offices already sent out the mail without the changes! All the messages went to an empty house!  Eventually they realize "Thats not right" and they fix their system to go to the right place!

That's... kinda what happened.  When people were going to yoshsaga.com - they were being sent to a dead end because their internet service providers hadn't reset their "addresses".  It's a lot more complicated what with the complications and all... Yes, I just said complications made it complicated.

Now it seems to be working for myself and more and more people and if it isn't working for you even after a few refreshes then it might take another hour or so for your ISP to reset.

If anyone still has issues with it tomorrow, please let me know and I'll see if there is anything I can do about it or help you out.

I normally start these a lot earlier than this, Nekocon is less than 2 months away and I'm almost set except for that one thing, money o_o

So as usually its time to beg people for money!  Or better yet- ask people donate and also provide incentive!  

There are 4 new prints that are going to be sold at Nekocon this year at my table.  They should be done early October.  Anyone who donates will get to see these pictures before the convention, and long before they are posted publicly for everyone to see online!  Also, for every 5 dollars donated you will be entered to win some of these prints (either pick 2 of the 3 11x17s or pick the poster).  They will be shipped to you before November provided I get confirmation of the name and address.

There will be 3 Winners, and then an extra winner for every 100 dollars over the low end goal (400 dollars).  Then if the High goal is met an extra winner will be added (700 dollars.  That's a max of 7 winners if that goal is reached).

Each winner will get a random print from one of the previous years as well, all signed.

Now so you know, this money is used to pay for the hotel, travel expenses, food, and to help cover the initial cost of printing.  Anything left is saved to pay for things for the site and for future events.  I don't use this money to buy figures of half naked catgirls at the convention or anime DVDs that feature catgirl harems.  Or any merchandise for that matter.  The low end goal represents a portion of the costs for the hotel, prints and my table at the convention.  It doesn't cover all of it.  The high end goal should cover everything including food (something i often skip at conventions to save a little money ).

I have a lot of stuff I want to do, and a lot of stuff I need to do.  Right now my work schedule is changing, and it might open up some more free time for me to get more work done, not much but anything will help!

So heres a Need and Want list!

And finally, I do not do porn. Sexy Pin-ups and the like are fine. I enjoy drawing them and it's a huge help in anatomy study and I'll get pretty close but nothing pornographic.

Alright so let me try and catch up on all the things going on. Answer some questions, let people know what is up...

Starting with- The Comic!
Yes, over 1000 comics officially several weeks ago. I've been doing this a good long time and I still have plenty left to go so thanks for reading and I hope you continue to enjoy it!  

Now some people have been asking about the comic because over a year ago I said that a new website would be up soon.  I didn't realize soon would be over a year but I'm seeing updates with it so now- we are looking at within a couple months (im hoping week but stuff happens- like colds and viruses *coughs* . . . nuts)

Extra art and gifts!
That's right!  Currently here is my list of art TO DO!
- The Final 2 Bonus Comics for Body Cross Chaos!  That's right! They are all paid for and I've already started sketching em but I wan't to put them both out at the same time If i can, so it might be another week before they are done.
- Redraw the Hinata-Dominatrix picture.  I'm thinking about making that a yearly thing. XD  It's one of the strangest and most outrageous pictures I have ever done and it's both hilarious and sexy. It's also one of my most viewed and commented on images and even now i get comments and such about the first one i drew (which looks terrible). The second one has a lot of flaws too so I really want to do another and hopefully improve it once again ^_^
- More Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki fan art.  I did the art trade, and ever since I've wanted to do more.  I want to do something with Yuuki and Kate but I haven't decided what yet - Definitely going to get to that eventually.
- More art to make Nekonny ( ) uncomfortable.  XD  
- Some art of my new character for Yosh! - Serena!  She's got a trait im not used to drawing that I think will really help my art, and that's her mild muscular body.  Practicing anatomy is knowing all about what's under the skin and how that defines the skin, so she should be fun and educational for me to draw XD That's right, drawing a girl in skimpy clothes will be educational! *nod nod*
- Kate requested I do a picture of Samus, so while this is probably last on my list, it's definitely something I need to get to at some point!

I also want to do some Free Request Sketches at some point  - but too busy now to do that. I'll make a new journal when Im going to do that.

As for basic stuff, as of right now I have an itchy throat that I hope doesn't develop into anything more... Otherwise I've been really busy but I'm keeping up and I'm working hard. Thank you all for taking the time to help me out and support my work by reading and donating.

HOWDY!  This is the month of OMGness!  How do I know?  People are freakn nuts.  I know because I'm a people... wait.

Anyways!  I'll make this quick!

Remember those comics I was doing?  The bonus comics that were pretty popular and I talked about ending it where  I did yada yada?  Well it's not done, I am continuing it, but those are donation comics, and thus people have to donate for me to work on and release them!  

There's only 4 comics left from that before it ends!  4!  Most people have more fingers than that on a single hand! Most...

Not to mention the first one's almost paid for! It's so close! *Nod Nod*

Finally, I plan on redrawing my popular "Hinata Dominatrix" image, I think I can do better and im a sucker for Hinata... and I love mixing up her persona XD

First off- AWESOME TIME!  Had a lot of fun at Nekocon this year.  There were many disappointments. The main ones being so many of my friends being unable to make it this year (including Shiden and even my own Brother T_T) and - NEKOCON HAD NO T-SHIRT THIS YEAR!  WTH!? Kate gave me money and said "Now be a good boy and buy me some cool Nekocon T-shirts!"  and I had to send her with a message saying "Hun, they. . . they don't have any t-shirts this year..."  13 freakn years and the 13th year they decide to NOT have a t-shirt!? WTH!? I was disappointed, Kate was disappointed, I bet Jesus was disappointed too, probably why I didn't see him there this year.

Point is- WTH!? NO T-SHIRT!?  SHAAAAME!!!!

Ahem - Ok. Onto the good!
Artist Alley!  It was awesome.  Here's the story from the beginning...
It's late Thursday night, I need to sleep but I don't go to bed early and thus have trouble doing so... I get a message from a friend and fan by the name of Kullax.  He says "Have fun at Nekocon! Oh and tell Kittyhawk of Sparkling Generation Valkryie Yuuki ( www.sgvy.com )that I said hi!", confused by the somewhat familiar name I agree to do so before saying goodnight...

The morning after, my friend Tom and I head off with loaded car and Mountain Dew. We arrive shortly before the AA opens to the public!  We get to work assembling the wireboxes of displayness only to see the people next to us, already set up and awaiting the fans and customers, are from Sparkling Generation Valkryie Yuuki!  I explain to Tom the message from last night and he said "How did he know we would be sitting next to them?" and i said "Obviously he didn't!  We didnt even know we would be sitting here- unless he's... MAGIC!" - no we didnt do that but it was something like that.

So yeah- I told Mrs Kittyhawk that Kullax said hello (Butchering the pronunciation of his name in the process! It's ok - I spelled it out flawlessly!).  From there during slow times we chatted a lot with her and her husband.  They were awesome and after looking at their art it kinda came back to me- I used to read there comic back in 2004.  During one of my many computer wipes I had lost my giant list of webcomics and I assume they were one of the casualties because the comic is hilarious and very cool. We traded prints and items and such.  So yeah, huge fan of them! I hope they come again next year and we can be Table Neighbors again!

Things did sell better this year than the past couple of years and I talked with lots of other cool people.  I gave Danny (From Draconia Chronicles [link] )a bunch of prints of the Year of the Tiger Collaboration image to sign XD - I'll be sending those out pretty soon in the mail (along with the winners prints from the raffle - I wasnt able to get them out before I left).

The guys from Darkstar Studios dropped by my table to see how I was doing- which was awesome, people used to do that way back, I still do it, but it seemed far less common the past years.  To have them both drop by separately (since someones gotta watch the table eh? XD)  to see how things were going was very cool. Ryan and Mike were very cool, and well... GO TEAM EDWARD!

Lets seeee- I didn't talk to Dave Lister much but his little girl was adorable. I wonder if he cut his hair because she kept pulling on it? Sounds like a sound theory...

I wanted to talk more with the Drow Tales group but every time I made my way over there it was just one of them and I tell ya, last thing i wanna do is mention how much I love the coloring only for the colorist to not be there and make him feel under appreciated ^_^;

This upcoming week is the last week for donations for the Nekocon Raffle!  Its $80 away from the goal.  Every 5 dollars gets you a chance to win new prints and it guarantees a sneak peak at the prints before they even go to Nekocon!

I underestimated a few costs this year regardless and I'm working my butt off trying to get these pictures done as well as a project so I don't have to cancel my hotel room.

I am still accepting commissions but they may not be completed till after Nekocon (First weekend of November) but I need the money ^_^;  My work hours got cut these two months without any kinda warning and well... It's caused a pretty big hole in my bank account what with all the extra expenses for the convention.

Ontop of that I've had to go to the doctor multiple times this month... My insurance doesn't pay for doctor visits.  My insurance is great if I get shot, or my arm falls off, or I get a rare flesh eating bacteria that cost thousands to treat... But for Severe allergies and "sometimes" coughing up blood they do nothing.  Had I been always coughing up blood maybe they would have helped.

Well It's that time again. . . Oh by the way, the next comic of Body Cross Chaos is being worked on... well now, it should be up Friday I hope.

SO! Nekocon!  It's coming up and as usual, I need money!  The goal this year is the same as last year, 400 dollars.  I think I can make it with 300 but I'll have to cut the number of prints down.  

As last year, every 5 dollars donated will give you a chance to win one of the prizes. All the prizes are the same, 1 Poster and a 8x11 print, or 3 Prints.  There will be 1 Winner for every 100 dollars donated +1 (So if the total at the end of the fundraiser is 400 dollars, there will be 5 winners, if 300 is raised 4 winners, and like that).  

Please do not donate in sets of 5 dollars since this is through paypal.  If you can, if you want 5 chances to win, donate 25 dollars, not 5 dollars 5 times.  If all you want is one, that's fine!  But for each transaction paypal takes out X+ a percentage, so a single donation they take out less than multiple small donations.

This money is all being used for paying for the table, registration, buying prints, gas, food, and paying for the hotel room.  

Winners will be emailed!  So make sure your paypal includes your email you want to be contacted at.

EVERYONE who donates will get a sneak peak at all the images for Nekocon.  These wont be for everyone to see till after Nekocon, the link to view them will be emailed once the fund raiser is over and the images are complete.

So anyways!  Last commissions im taking till Nekocon!  After this set i'll be opening back up after Nekocon which is in the first week of November.  

I'll be working on a new poster and some new prints!  Probably just one poster, 1 pinup 1 cute or 2 pinups, and 1 Kate in theme for the convention (may be cute or sexy- I havent found out about the theme for this year yet!)

IF you have any suggestions for pinups, cute pictures, or something for a poster sized print post it on this journal!  I'll either pick something or come up with my own, if I use and Idea i'll put the credit on the deviation when it goes on DA after nekocon (all Nekocon prints are posted after nekocon- so its something special for people at the convention, but of course if i use an idea i'll let you know)
